How this is calculated
Item sizes are typical footprints in feet, including the working room you need around them (chair pull-out space, grill access, run-off for courts). Real products differ, so click any item and type in your own measurements. Courts show their playing lines inside the run-off area.
Overlap checks use each item's bounding box, so two round items can look like they fit while their boxes overlap. Shade items (pergola, umbrella, tree canopy) float over other things and are never counted as collisions. The plan stays on your device and in this page's link; nothing is sent to us.
Setbacks from fences and property lines, utility easements, septic fields, and the clearances your hot tub, fire feature or grill maker requires are not modeled. Check local rules and each product's manual before you buy or build.
Quick answers
How much space does a hot tub need?
A typical six or seven seat hot tub has a footprint around 7 to 8 feet square, but you also need room to walk around it, lift the cover, and reach the service panel, so plan for noticeably more than the tub itself. Your maker's installation guide lists the clearances, and the pad has to carry the full weight of the filled tub.
How big should a patio be for a dining set?
Take the table size and add about three feet on every side for chairs to pull out and people to walk behind them. A six-seat table around 3 by 6 feet works best on a patio of roughly 9 by 12 feet.
Does the planner save my layout?
Yes, on your device. The page address also holds your plan, so you can copy the link to open it elsewhere or send it to a partner or contractor. Nothing is stored on our servers.
